Introduction to Recorders in Automation Anywhere Enterprise Client

Automation Anywhere provided various methods to create bots. Selecting the correct method is essential for creating tasks that are reliable, User-friendly, and Time-efficient.

Based on the type of process that needs to be automated. You can use any one of the following recorders.

✤ Smart Recorder.
✤ Screen Recorder.
✤ Web Recorder.

Automation Anywhere provides two✌ ways to access the recorders to automate tasks.

☝ One of the ways to record a task is selecting the New button.
Upon selecting the New Button, select the type of recorder, you want to open.

✌ Another way is to open the record drop down and selecting the one of the recorders.


✤ Smart Recorder:

When you want to record a series of actions on your computer that require capturing objects from applications that use HTML, Java, WPF, Flex or
Silver light, you can use the smart recorder.

✒ It features Smart Technology for desktop applications and websites.
✒ It works on object, co-ordinates and Image play back mode.
✒ Features adjustable object identification criteria.
✒ Captures window objects and controls such as text from drop-down menus, list boxes, buttons and mouse click actions.
Status from radio-buttons and check boxes.

★ Note:All the keystroke actions and mouse clicks are saved as a set of object cloning commands in the workbench.

★ While using smart recorder, to navigate across controls, it is recommended that you use 'click action instead of TAB'.

✤ Screen Recorder:

It allow you to record the regular activities of mouse clicks and keyboard operations.

✒ It suits simple tasks which involves mouse clicks and keyboard operations.
✒ Requires the same operating system and screen resolution.
✒ It is limited to static screens and simple desktops or web applications.

★ Note: At the time of running the bot ensure that usage of same operating system and screen resolution which was used at the time of recording.

✤ Web Recorder:

It automates processes tasks that involve a web application or a browser and it also records the following web objects.

✑ URL Command Line.
✑ Drop-down menu's and command bar icons.
✑ Web page text fields, graphics and buttons.
✑ Navigation, hot spot links and forms.

✒ It also enables the automation of Internet- related task actions.
✒ It features Smart Technology ideal for websites.
✒ Record actions based on a provided URL.
✒ Extracts single data, pattern based data and tables.
✒ Navigates web controls.
✒ Works as a Browser based tool.
✒ Supports IE 100%

⌚ Uses of Web Recorder:

⌛ Opening web pages.
⌛ Logging into a website.
⌛ Navigating through search.
⌛ Entering data into forms and submitting them.
⌛ Extracting data and updating database records.
⌛ Using a web-based ERP system.
⌛ Extracting web data to local file.
⌛ Testing an online application.

★ Note ☝: You need to keep in mind that recorders needed for web-based application works best only on Internet Explorer 9 and above.

★ Note ✌: Shortcut key combination to stop the recording Ctrl+Alt+S.
